I began a new weekly ritual several months ago to incorporate relaxing warm baths into my self-care routine! During this pregnancy after a busy week, it has been quite therapeutic and beneficial to my health. The body goes through so many physical changes, and in the 3rd trimester, muscles experience more tension, ligaments stretch, and your joints or back may strain to support that beautiful life being created inside. Soaking in a warm Epsom salt bath is a great holistic way of calming the body, because of the anti-inflammatory properties of magnesium that get absorbed. I like to also add my essential Lavender oil into the bath too, burn a soy-based candle to help set the mood, and sometimes play nature music in the background, or a hypnotherapy meditation session to ease the mind. The best part is just how it makes me feel lighter from the day, as the water floats up my heavy womb, instead of the pulling sensation of gravity. Afterwards, my mind and body feel completely relaxed and rejuvenated. Did you know a study showed soaking in hot baths for an hour may also reduce blood sugar levels and burn over 100 calories? Nice huh!? Definitely exercise caution though with how hot the water temperature is, if you're pregnant or have underlying health conditions. What are some of your favorite self-care rituals?

Immune Support. Where do you get yours? Now more than ever it’s critical we focus on this....It’s what makes our bodies more resistant during this uncertain time we’re experiencing together!
With many aspects of life on pause, our typical ‘rat race’ has turned into a ‘pursuit of balance’.....the events of the past month force us to spend more time going back to basics. Some questions we should ask ourselves... Do I need to calm my nervous system? 😖 Negative stress increases our cortisol hormone which suppresses our immunity, so we need to find strategies that help us relax and ground our mind. Do I need more sleep? 😴 Lack of sleep reduces T-cell activity which weakens our immune system. Do I get enough sun? ☀️ Low levels of Vitamin D has been determined to be one of the main reasons for respiratory problems. We only need 15 min of daily sun for the body to make enough Vitamin D to produce antibodies, so get out there! Do I eat a variety of produce? 🍒🥦🍓🥕 Thousands of micronutrients exist in whole fruits and veggies....a daily multivitamin that only contains 13 essential vitamins does not compare. If you struggle in this area or your grocery store lacks fresh produce lately, you can benefit from Juice Plus, like my family has for 5 years. Independent clinical research shows these powerful plant concentrates support the function of our immune system! Let’s take healthy back. ❤️ #jetsonfood #wfh #socialdistancing #hometogether #findbalanceinthechaos #withme #selfcare With all the noise in our lives, we have to remember to empty our buckets to find balance....otherwise we’ll overflow and have no room to fill up with the good. As I have the house all to myself doing routine chores, it’s a chance to get a jumpstart on the weekend, with Alexa serenading me. 🎶 Find pleasure in the mundane. It may not be glamorous but certainly is therapeutic....have you emptied your bucket lately? Life gets busy for us all....to the point where we could easily lose ourselves in the chaos of balancing work, school, money, expenses, expectations, childhood wounds, physical stresses and everything else that crosses our path. We must remember to set aside time to be intentional and present with ourselves. In these moments I remember what a wise friend once taught me. To practice self-love daily; to give grace and be gentle with ourselves thru this journey of life. |
